Banana Bread Doughnuts

I'm excited. Really excited.

I'm about to embark on a whole new project. It is going to be a long term commitment that requires a lot of research, planning, and hard work, but I am ready for it. My family is too. You are just going to have to wait until tomorrow to figure out what it is, though. For now I am sure you will be completely satisfied with these awesome banana bread baked doughnuts.

makes 6
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ cup melted butter
¼ cup applesauce
1 large egg
1 tbsp Greek yogurt
1 large ripe banana

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and oil a 6 holed doughnut pan. Mash up the banana along with the Greek yogurt. Whisk the egg, applesauce, and butter together. Add in the banana mixture. In a separate bowl, stir all the dry ingredients together. Mix the wet and dry ingredients until just combined. Spoon the batter evenly into the holes in the pan, only filling them about 2/3 the way up. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the doughnuts cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
