Harper's Rainbow Loom Creations

Harper got one of those new rainbow looms for Christmas. They make little rubber band bracelets that all the kids are dying for. (They seem to have replaced Silly Bands which replaced those braided friendship bracelets that replaced the Livestrong bands.) We tried to figure out how to make them in the back of the van on our long drive down to see our family. The back seat of the van apparently isn't a very conducive environment for using the rainbow loom. Luckily, one of Harp's friends down the street showed her how to use it, and she has made a ton of cute little bracelets and such.

(I love how her little eyes always disappear when she smiles too wide. It annoys my mom and photographers to death, but I think it is cute.)

Harp had the creative idea to make little bracelets for her dolls. She also made a bracelet and ring for herself.

My Christmas present of a doughnut pan was not quite so hard to figure out, and I have been reaping the rewards of freshly baked doughnuts right out of the oven. My favorite so far has been the maple cinnamon flavor that I am sharing today.

Baked Maple Cinnamon Doughnuts
makes 6
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
6 tbsp canola oil
¾ cup maple syrup
1 egg
¾ cup Greek yogurt

Preheat your oven to 425, and oil a doughnut pan. Mix together the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, oil, yogurt, and syrup together. Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Spoon into the doughnut pan and bake for 10 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
