Surprise Scrapbook


Today was Harper's sixth birthday. I can't believe my baby is getting so big. I made her poptarts, chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate almond milk for breakfast in bed on her request. (She is a chocolate girl.) She had Red Robin for lunch, and Chuck E Cheese for dinner. We had her party there today with a ton of kids. She got a lot of fun arts and crafts for her birthday. I'm excited to do some of them. Chuck E Cheese was crazy, but I think she had a lot of fun. My mom calls it a child casino. Some of the games in there make me feel like I'm in a casino. The kids love it, though. I feel like I need a shower.
 
I made Harper this scrapbook for her birthday. Most kids would rather have toys, but I really think Harper will appreciate this more. She loved it this morning.
It's a scrapbook of her 5th year. It goes from April of 2012 to March of 2013.
I hope Harper can enjoy her scrapbook for years to come.
 
Below is the recipe for a slow cooked millet bake. I woke up at the crack of dawn to turn the oven on, but you can make it ahead of time and reheat it. Or serve it for lunch.
 

Cinnamon Millet Bake
Serves 2
¼ c. millet
2 tbsp honey
1/3 c. water
½ c. milk
½ c. applesauce
½ tsp cinnamon
dash of cloves
dash of nutmeg
pinch of salt
 
Mix all the ingredients together and let them soak for 5 hours. Pour the soaked millet into a small oiled baking dish. Bake uncovered at 250 degrees for 2 ½ hours. Serve warm.
