Mother's Day 2012

We just celebrated Mother's Day. My mom always says that it should be mother's hour because that's about how long it lasts. :) Harp made this card at school.


I made three different types of scones (chocolate chip, blueberry, and cranberry- almond) shaped like hearts, tea, and fruit for her breakfast in bed.

RECIPE
  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup oatmeal
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • Handful dried blueberries, chocolate chips, almonds, or dried cranberries

  • Preheat the oven to 375. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix well. Cut in butter and shortening. In a separate bowl, combine cream with beaten egg then add to dry ingredients. Stir in fruit. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Roll dough out and cut into hearts. Bake for 15 minutes or until brown.


    S'mores popcorn

    RECIPE
    Pop about 8 cups of popcorn. Melt a square of semi- sweet baking chocolate. Add marshmallows, chocolate Graham goldfish, graham crackers, and chocolate chips to the popcorn. Pour melted chocolate over the mixture, shake, and let cool.
